Denver Post, Tuesday, January 13, 1948: “Of top interest to Denver society Tuesday is the announcement by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Orthwein Everts of the betrothal of their daughter, Miss Jacqueline Orthwein Everts, to Hugh Bancroft, Jr. of Boston and Cohasset, Mass. The engagement was told to guests of the bride-elect at a luncheon at the Denver Country Club Tuesday afternoon. Miss Everts, a popular member of Denver’s younger set, is a graduate of Kent School for Girls, and received her bachelor of arts degree from Connecticut college in New London, Conn. She is a provisional member of the Junior League of Denver.
“Mr. Bancroft is the son of Mrs. Hugh Bancroft of Deer Hill, Cohasset and Boston. A graduate of Noble and Greenough preparatory school in Dedham, Mass., he attended Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass. He is a veteran of service with the coast guard, and a member of the Masters of Fox Hounds Association of America, the Cohasset Yacht Club, and the Cohasset Golf Club. He is now making his home at the Park Lane Hotel.
“The couple have set no definite date for their wedding.”
I write of Jackie and Hugh, Jr.’s life in my book: “The Ronnie Lee and Jackie Bancroft Spencer Morgan Story, a tale of people, greed, envy, manipulation — even crime”
